ANDROID CODES

Remember the good ol` days of gaming where you punched some numbers and letters into console allowing you to instantly fill your health, unlock every gun, enter god mode and cause unparalleled mayhem in pretty much every game ever? Yeah! Those days are all but gone, cause kids nowdays got spoiled with trainers, but today you can relive some of those fun times with some secret Android testing codes! And no, your phone will not turn into prehistoric PC.

The codes that I will be showing you today range from useful, useless, interesting and downright dangerous, so be very careful with this information! If you are not well versed in Android devices, I wouldn’t recommend diving right in with these codes, but for the adventurous/advanced users out there; apply at your own risk!

If you ask why the hell would someone bother with typing codes... my answer is: cause he / she / it can :) afterall isn`t Android all about option!?

This article is divided into Section 1 containing Android Codes, while Section 2 is phone specific, including codes for Samsung Galaxy S1, 2, 3 separately. Here we go.

SECTION 1
The codes can be activated by dialing them in on your phones touch-tone pad. Unlike a phone number, entering a valid code will immediately activate it so read through each description before trying them out.

*#*#4636#*#*
This code activates the ‘Testing’ panel which gives detailed information on the following topics:

sc3.png

*#*#7594#*#*
Code is pretty useful as it allows you to change how the power button works. Rather than having a long press bring up the silent mode/airplane mode/power off menu, it will directly shut down the device.

*#*#273283*255*663282*#*#*
Lets you create a folder or choose a destination in which you can backup media such as images, videos and music.
sc5.png

*#*#197328640#*#*
This one is used to enter Service mode. You can run various tests and change settings in the service mode.

*#*#1234#*#* = PDA and Phone
*#*#1111#*#* = FTA SW Version
*#*#2222#*#* = FTA HW Version

*#*#2664#*#* = Touch Screen Test
*#*#0588#*#* = Proximity Sensor Test
*#*#3264#*#* = RAM version
DANGEROUS

*#*#7780#*#*
This code can be used as a short to perform a factory data reset. It erases all data including:
  • Google accounts and associated settings
  • System and application data and settings
  • Downloaded applications
This will not remove bloatware or information stored on your SD card:
  • Current system software and bundled applications
  • SD card files e.g. photos, music files, etc.
sc7.png

*2767*3855#
This code will perform a factory format when executed. This means all files and settings will be nuked. Keep in mind, unlike the factory reset, the format has no option to approve the action. Entering the code is a one-way trip to formatland that can only be stopped by poppin’ out the battery which in and of itself could cause problems.

*#*#34971539#*#*
This is not only dangerous but also not very useful. If you’re curious though, this code activates your phone’s camera firmware options in the following 4 menus:
  • Update camera firmware in image (don’t use this one! Ever! Not kidding!)
  • Update camera firmware in SD card
  • Get camera firmware version
  • Get firmware update count
WARNING: The first option will BORK your camera and will require you to reflash the firmware by your service provider (forget Nandroid, forget Odin - doesn`t help)

Among all those 58 key codes, there is one which is very important for every new owner of SGS3. That key is *#0*# which is a general test to find out basic current state of phone’s LCD. We knew that LCD is the most important aspect of a touch-based smartphone. Anyway, just give it a try...
